Dr. Mike Enskat

Dr. Mike Enskat is Senior Programme Manager for International Sustainable Energy Policy at Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ). He provides strategic leadership to GIZ’s global engagement in various regional and multilateral processes and initiatives in the field of Energy for Sustainable Development. He advises different Ministries of the Federal German Government in their involvement with international organizations such as the EU, World Bank, IEA or IRENA in this field. The multi-donor funded EUEI PDF (European Union Energy Initiative – Partnership Dialogue Facility), established in 2005 with his close involvement, operates under his overall managerial responsibility. In 2003 – 2004 Dr. Enskat was a member of the Conference Secretariat for the International Renewable Energy Conference held in Bonn in 2004, where he held responsibility for the thematic preparations. Out of this engagement emerged the International Renewable Energy Policy Network for the 21st Century (REN21) and
the IREC (International Renewable Energy Conferences) series. Dr. Enskat leads a team of 25 international energy professionals. In 2013 he acted as Co-Chairman of the Panel of Experts for the IRENA/ADFD (Abu Dhabi Fund for Development) Renewable Energy Project Facility.
