H.E. Dr. Elham Mahmoud Ahmed Ibrahim
Commissioner for Infrastructure and Energy, African Union Commission (AUC)
Dr. Elham has a Ph.D. in Electronics and Communications from Cairo University, an M.Sc. in Electronic Engineering from Cairo University, and a B.Sc. in Communication Engineering from Asuit University, Egypt. On 28th April 2008 she was elected and appointed for the post of The Commissioner of Infrastructure & Energy, in the African Union Commission. In July 2012 she was reelected for the same post. Over 33 years, Dr. Ibrahim has served in the academic research, electrical energy production & interconnection, energy strategies and policies, renewable energy. She has held various posts among which are: First Under Secretary of State, Under Secretary of State for International cooperation in the Ministry of Electricity and Energy in Egypt. She is in charge of leading the Infrastructure and Energy Department to realize its mandate to enhance Regional and Continental efforts for accelerated integrated infrastructure development and effective sustainable development of energy resources.
